MYRNA VAN DER VEEN (1977) is a Dutch - Indonesian photographer, painter, and sculptor who works from Amsterdam and Kenya. She experimented with a wide variety of styles, subjects, and materials. She concentrates on flora and fauna photography as research for her paintings. Inspiration from the landscape and soil layers symbolizes 'the geography of thoughts' and 'dynamics in life'. She produces abstract works created by chance through chemical reactions between paint and minerals. The paintings form a basis for her "Jirafa" sculptures. The Jirafa (Spanish for giraffe) is a minimalist tall creature that reflects the “Eternal Spring of Human”. Myrna is convinced that Eternal Spring stands for the human who is always evolving.

MYR studio safari offers you a taste of immeasurable East Africa. By seeing, experiencing, feeling, and listening, she translates stories into photography, illustration, painting, and visual art and creates mesmerizing images in a world of color, scent, and endless horizons. With an intensity that makes you feel like you’re right there with her, at the moment. Intimate and close. A glimpse into a world where you are welcomed by strength, wealth, and beauty. She captures the inhabitants, wildlife, and landscapes of Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda so they can shine elsewhere too.
